Invisible Hand

Under the command of the bloodthirsty General Grievous,  this ship was a major threat to the Republic during the clone wars.  You may be thinking hey, the ship crashed, but I've got something to say.  Before the battle above Coroscant, the ship was engaged in a large battle with the Republic.  They hit critical parts of the ship, thus making it a ideal target.  After its unplanned engagement with a Venator Star desroyer, Grievous knew the ship was going down.  He escaped while his precious capital ship plumeted into Coroscant's firey atmosphere.  This heavily modified providence class ship only needs a crew of 600 droids to operate and maintain one.  When up against enemy capital ships, it has 14 quad turbolaser turrets, 34 dual laser cannons, 2 ion cannons, 12 point defense ion cannons, and 102 proton torpedo launch tubes to back it up.  Even with these weapons, it usually is paired with at least one smaller frigate for intense destruction.  Size-wise, it is 3,570ft long, 650ft wide, and 1139ft high.  The capacity of this beast is 120 tri fighters,  120 vulture droids, 160 multi-troop-transports (MTT's), 280 random armored droid vehicles, and 1.5 million deactivated droids.  For more information on the droid general, go to www.grievous.zoomshare.com.

Venator star destroyer

The producer of this awsome ship is the famous Kuat Drive Yards.  Evident in the design of this ship is the wedge shaped hull, similar to the Imperial Star Destroyer. The success of this ship as a multi carrier role helped in the production of later star destroyers.  One of the best things about this ship is its long dorsal flight deck, located inside the ship.  This allows the ship to launch its hundreds of fighters simotanuosly.  When size is a factor, it is 1137 m long, 548 m wide, and 268 m high.  Also needed to fly one of these is a crew of 7400 clones.  The 8 DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets, 2 medium dual laser cannons, 52 point defense cannons, 4 proton torpedo tubes and 6 tractor beam projectors provide support.  This heavily versatile ship can be used as a carrier or invader.  For invading star systems it can hold 192 v-wings, 192 jedi intercepters, 36 arc-170's, 24 military walkers, and 40 LAAT's.  With such diversity in its ships could help in space battles or ground assaults.  Becuase of this, this is my favorite ship.  It's price is cheaper than the Imperial Star Destroyer, and still carries about the same amount of fighters.  This ship can also perform planetary landings, something the Imperial star destroyer couldn't do.  That makes it an even batter choice for a multi role carrier.

Imperial Star destroyer

This ship was nicknamed the "dark soul of the Imperial navy", and for good reason.  This ship helped the Empire immensly during the galactic civil war.  As mentioned before, Kuat Drive Yards manufactures this beautiful criuser.  Because of its size of 1600 m long, it takes a full crew of 37,000 to operate one accordingly.  This ship can take out almost any ship of its size because of its highly advanced weapons systems.  It has 60 Tim&Bak xx-9 turbolasers which are modified with advanced targeting systems.  Its weapons roster also includes 60 Borstel NK-7ion cannons, and 10 Pylon Q7 tractor beam projectors.  The standard fighter complement for the cruiser is 72 tie fighters, 20 At-AT's, 30 At-ST's, transports, shuttles, gunboats, and last but not least, 9700 ground troops.  To power this cruiser, the ship also has the best power generator in the galaxy, the Sinear Fleet Systems 1-a2b power generator.  It can keep all systems on full power while still keeping a substantial reserve of power.  With plenty of power, the ship's ISD-72x shields do the job well.  The shields are also manufactured by KDY(Kuat Drive Yards). 

 Mon Calamari Star-Cruiser

Manufactured by the mon calamari, this heavy cruiser was originally designed for colonization of the planet.  Hard to believe, isn't it?  Well, it was.  When it first came to the Rebel Alliance,  they had to upgrade everything.  A thick armor hull with full defensive shields was added.  For a normal ship,the weapons  included 36 ion cannons, and 29 turbolaser emplacements.  Some of these models varied.  Later versions of the ship, such as the MC80, inluded some 75 turbolasers and 35 ion cannons.  The later versions also held 6 tractor beam projectors.  It doesn't seem like much, but when up against a star destroyer, it could pack a punch.  Almost all the cruisers came equiped with the same number of fighters, 120 assorted B-wings, A-wings, and the like.  The only time you see the ship is in the battle of Endor.  Do not be mistaken though, it played a major factor in that battle, helping destroy the super star destroyer Executor.  This was Darth Vader's personal ship for those who don't know.  The Mon Cal cruiser was also used for medical frigates and support craft.  If need be, it could be used as a "sick bay".  After that deciding battle, this ship found much use in the New Republic defeating Imperial Remnant forces and pirates from outside the galaxy.

Death Star

                Although you may not consider this a capital ship, it's still worthy enough to be on my web site.  As all STAR WARS fans know (at least hope) that this was the pride of the empire. However, it was not the empire that designed it.  The Confederacy of Independent Systems made the original plans, and the empire built upon it.  It terrorized the entire galaxy.  The size of this battle station was the size of a small moon.  The original  measured 120 kilometers in diameter.  For a size of scale, a star destroyer is 1600 meters long.  The entire Imperial navy had to build this beast, but the designers and primary manufacturers were the Imperial Department of Military Research.  These were the elites of the Imperial navy, experimenting with new and more lethal ways to terrorize the galaxy.  As you probably know, the main waepon on this massive space station is its superlaser.  It was powered by a immense fusion reactor located in the middle of the station.  Multiple beams formed on a central focus lens which in turn made the big beam that could destroy an entire planet.  Other smaller weapons included 15,000 turbolaser emplacements, 15,000 heavy turbolaser emplacements, 7500 laser cannons, 5000 ion cannons and 768 tractor beam projectors.  The crews for both of these battle stations remains unknown, but it is estimated to be in the millions.
